alliance & leicester slow transfers

After switching bank accounts a couple of times over the last couple of years (barclays,halifax/bank of scotland) I have to say that I am finding the alliance & leicesters transfers between accounts very slow.I moved from the other banks as I was trying to take advantage of the 12 months free banking, I run a small buisness.I have since found to my cost that transferring online between commercial and current account takes 3 working days and if you want to transfer from your saving account to current account which are part of the same webpage it wont happen on a weekend.Fairy rubbish to say the least despite their not so free banking the other banks where instant when you transferred online.Beware!

Rough with the smooth I guess.

I have no experience with A&L's business account, just with A&L personal accounts.

• BACS transfers from A&L take an extra working day. Like some other banks, they hold on to the funds for a day before passing them through the BACS clearing cycle.
• Online transfers to other A&L accounts go through BACS - same as external accounts.
• Internal transfers can only be made via phone. Even then they are not immediate; they appear in the target account on the next day (or next working day?).
