Last week I had a mystery payment go out of my account. On contacting my bank they have informed me it has gone to a disabled charity in Leatherhead,No idea how this has happened as I haven't even heard of them, but just wanted to warn others, or see if it's happened to anyone else?:(:(

Not happened to me, but that's pretty disturbing.
How did they get hold of your bank details?
Have you got the money refunded back into your account?0 -

The charity just rang me back and said they'd had 50 of these random payments via World Pay from all over the world. The bank has advised me to cancel my card just in case...ggggggrrrrrrrr:mad::mad::mad::mad:"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

I would hazard a guess that it's a fraudster who has just received your account details from someone else. Before going on a spending spree, they want to check that the details are valid. A modest donation to charity tests the account without raising any suspicions. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0 -

Was it a Direct Debit though? If it was, it could still go again even with a new card. I would close the account and open a new one, so that you get a new account number as well as a new card number.0
