Queen Elizabeth's charity

Last week I had a mystery payment go out of my account. On contacting my bank they have informed me it has gone to a disabled charity in Leatherhead,No idea how this has happened as I haven't even heard of them, but just wanted to warn others, or see if it's happened to anyone else?:(:(

Not happened to me, but that's pretty disturbing.

How did they get hold of your bank details?

Have you got the money refunded back into your account?

They're a chairty who help people suffering from physical and learning disabilities or acquired brain injuries. Does seem odd as they are a registered charity. Here's their internet site.

I would hazard a guess that it's a fraudster who has just received your account details from someone else. Before going on a spending spree, they want to check that the details are valid. A modest donation to charity tests the account without raising any suspicions.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Was it a Direct Debit though? If it was, it could still go again even with a new card. I would close the account and open a new one, so that you get a new account number as well as a new card number.
