How can I dial 0800 numbers for free from Mobile?

Hello,

I know this is the wrong place to post.... but I can't find any other suitable thread... Feel free to move.

I would like to know if it's possible to call 0800 numbers for free from mobiles phones. All mobile packages at present give you free access to numbers beginning with 01 or 02 or to mobiles using the free minutes.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

As far as I was aware, there is no way to dial 0800 numbers for fre from your mobile unless you are actually on a tariff that allows this (and I only know of corporate tariffs that allow free 0800 call).

I believe that T-Mobile is currently working to allow certain 0808 numbers to be dialled free from handsets for things like confidential helplines.

How about the Mobile Sub Forum.:D

You need inclusive contract minutes to call them for no charge from mobiles.( Apart from certain numbers that some networks recognise as Helplines). The only network that allows you to call them direct out of your inclusive x-net minutes is O2,as pointed out by Muhamid.

If you have inclusive landline contract minutes to 01/02 UK Geographical Numbers ,you can call them by using the Pre-Dial Gateway Numbers . 0200 222 0700 or 0900. If one doesnt work from your network, the other usually does.

If your using a payg phone to call them you will be charged whatever network you use unless its a recognised help line.

You could also try and find a alternative geographical number at https://www.saynoto0870.com

Yes there is, if as Muhamid says you have an O2 pay monthly contract, then you can call FREE by missing the leading 0 off.

In fact if you forget to miss the 0 off, there is a recorded anouncement that says " if you do not want to be "charged", than redial, missing the 0 off".

BTW, 0870 and 0845 are allowed as part of the 02 contract minutes at no extra charge.
My only gripe is that shortform Texts are charged, not classed as part of "free" texts.
