We are getting married in Edinburgh so decided to stay up there for our honeymoon and travel round. We are quite flexible in relation to which parts of Scotland we visit so are keeping an eye on Groupon for hotel deals in the next few months and booking it like that.
Staying in the UK doesn't have to be any less special and you cut down the costs. There are loads of beautiful places around.

There are specialist companies - but they'll cost more.

If you just want a regular package virgin, thomas cook etc are a decent bet - but if you want anything slightly non-standard I've found that booking everything individually is the way to go - and doable with a little organisation...

Totally - we got a quote from a Honeymoon company for a 3 week trip around Belize.
We priced it up ourselves & it was a third cheaper!
Everything was paid for on CC, so we had sufficient protection.
  • I wanted a cheap honeymoon because we're paying for everything ourselves so I've just booked flights to Nice, we'll be going for a week and flights were only £275 and the hotels out there are fab!! some more expensive than others so i need to do my research.
  • We're doing Thailand for a fortnight, but looking to book it ourselves as it will be far cheaper than going through a travel agent etc.

  • We're doing Las Vegas 4 nights, san fran 3 nights and 7 nights in 5* resort in mexico. It wasn't MSE though was about £4k, (if it makes it any better it is combined with both our 30th birthdays while out there though so three celebrations in one! In fact the holiday was decided before we decided to get married) We had trailfinders sort it out for us they were very flexible when putting it all together for us.
