I'm after a central hotel for 1 in Shanghai in March for 5 days like the Ibis Hotel or Travelodge in the UK...
Where the budget is OK yet comfortable with a double bed!
Any ideas please?
Oh, how much should I pay per night?
Thanks to all replies in advance.

Hi
I've stayed before in the Sai Yuan Hotel in Shanghai, its a fantastic 4 star hotel. Rates are 38 USD (approx £20) per night inclusive of all taxes for a double/twin room in March 2007. 'Four Point by Sheraton Pudong' is another quality and cheap hotel (£25 per night). You can also check out the other hotels and read reviews:

OR

Hope this helps0 -
That's excellent... Thank you very much for that!

Outta the two you showed me, which is more central to everything in Shanghai?
Or better still nearest to a local bar that serves alcohol that are nice to English tourists...

Hi
I'd say the Sai Yuan Hotel is closer to the city centre; its only 10 mins away by taxi. Remember if you book through https://www.asiarooms.com you will have to pay first, they will then send you a pre-paid voucher through email which you print of and present when checking in....and remember the price you pay includes all taxes, service charges etc so no nasty surprises when you check out.
Have a great time!

baby frogmella, what address or places of interest IS in the centre of Shanghai.
Obviously those hotels you mention sound great but I should have mentioned that I am maybe looking for somewhere in the centre of Shanghai?
Or, is the budget there going to be OTT?
Thanks for your reply in advance.0 -
Hi
The Sai Yuan Hotel is in the district of Puxi which is in the old part of Shanghai (west of river). Its no more than a mile to downtown shanghai so you could really walk it if you feel energetic. Also the hotel has a big shopping centre next to it which contains a supermarket, internet cafe, hairdresser, restaurants etc so you wouldn't be isolated.0
