Mini Cooper Wheel Noise?

I'm just wondering if anyone can give me some suggestions, really!

I'm a relatively new driver, so my descriptions may be quite bad...

I drive an 08 Mini Cooper, and today used it to move a computer and some other things. On the way there were some speed bumps, and the wheels started to feel a bit odd.

I drove it around a bit after it was unloaded, but it still feels very weird. I can't really explain how...just different to how it felt before. Almost as if one of the wheels has buckled

It's going for an MOT on Thursday, so I'm a bit anxious...does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks :)

Have you checked your tyre pressures?

(They should be about 32-35 psi on the Mini)

It could be a steering pump failure. It's a really common problem on Minis.

I've got one and it broke a couple of months ago, cost £400 to replace...

    Just thought I'd update this!

Checked the tyre pressures, all fine, but noticed I have a big silver nail in the middle of the front right tyre. It's about 1/3 of the way in, maybe a little more.

It's going in for an MOT tomorrow, and is under warranty at present. Will they look at it then? I've got a gut feeling that tyres aren't usually covered, so I'm a bit worried about the cost!

A nail in a tyre will not usually be covered by any warranty.
(unless you have puncture repair cover and the tyre is repairable)

They'll probably refuse to even do the test if there's a nail sticking out the tyre - get it fixed before the MOT!

    Ah.
Well, I've taken it, and pointed it out to them. It's in the final 1/3 of the tyre, closest to the inside of the car, and is properly stuck in...he wasn't at all interested in me showing him, and simply said he'd give me a quote?

As far as I know the MOT is going ahead, although they may ring me beforehand to get the tyre done. I'm not sure what time the MOT is, they've got it all day until 7pm, so it could be at any point.

Bit worried about the cost!! :o

    Arrgggh!

Just wondering if anyone has any advice on this.

Picked it up yesterday, all fine. Asked if the nail had been removed, he said yes. He said the wheel did not need changing, as the nail was only small and hadn't punctured it. Fair enough. Left with my MOT.

Had some trips to make last night, involving motorways. At one service station I noticed the nail was still there - I was quite irritated but half way to where I was going and the garage was closed so not much I can do.

The tyre punctured on the motorway, meaning I spent the entire night nursing it up, blowing the wheel up every 15 miles or so, until this morning. I was told by my breakdown cover, which is with the company I bought it from, that they'd collect it in the morning and change the tyre.

This morning I phoned and was told they don't recover, I'd have to nurse it to the garage. A fair distance away, but I got it there. Left it there for them to change the tyre.

They've just rang up and said all they can do is knock £15 off the usual price of the tyre because of the circumstances. They are denying leaving the nail in - I know for certain that they did.

I'm rather annoyed that it's going to cost me a small fortune to have the tyre changed when it could have been repaired had they looked at it yesterday.

And yes, I know, I should have checked it before I left. It was raining, I was late and it seemed okay. I've learnt my lesson - I just wondered if I'm wrong to expect this to be covered due to their mistake/or under the warranty.
