Will carers allowance be part of the new universal credit?

Hi there,

Just wondering if the government has decided yet whether the present carers allowance will be done away with, when the new universal credit comes along as I believe the new universal credit will be means tested?

Thanks for any info.

John

The docs I was reading the other day said that CA would remain outside of the UC but no decision have been made yet on what will happen with CA in the future.
I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.
  • CA is a taxable benefit, so it would make sense for it to be separate from UC.

nearly all benefits are taxable so they all should be treated the same.
