Flashing display on Elec Meter

Probably not the best place to ask this but i had to turn the power off to my flat in an attempt to change a pull down light switch.
When i turned the power back on my meter is now flashing with 8888888
instead of the actual reading. Its been doing this for about an hour now. I hoped it would correct itself but it hasnt.
Has anyone come across this before or know how to correct it?

This appears to have now corrected itself.0

It will cycle through different readings - The 888888 is a test function on the meter - The flashing light btw indicates usage nothing else.0
