Used Cars

Hello
I have just bought a used car I paided in cash which was £4000. After having the car for a few days I noticed a number of problems.
The driver side door has a mark and the petrol flap is a different colour to the rest of the car. The garage I bought the car from said they would sort this problem, but has since made it worse and the whole door needs re spraying as a result of the work they have carried out.
The cars tracking was so badly out and tyres on the car was badly worn, I decided to go through the paper work and noticed that the garage had withheld the advisory note issued with the M.O.T. The M.O.T had been done on the car 1 day before we took delivery.
Once I discovered this I took the car to Mercedes for a visual health check, Mercedes told me the car should not have passed its M.O.T and was unsafe to drive due to the tyres and windscreen.
4 out of the 5 tyres would fail the M.O.T and the windscreen was not fitted correctly and would need replacing. Mercedes also picked up on exhaust problems and that the steering bushes need replacing.
I took the car to Autoglass and they told me the trims and windscreen will need replacing as the wrong windscreen has been fitted to the car.
The garage has had the car back on two occasions and have not fixed the problems. I took the car back to Mercedes after the second occasions and got quotes from them and Autoglass to put the car right. It would be a total of £2771.89.
I have given the garage plenty of opportunities to fix the car and just want my money back now.
Sorry to go on, but can anyone advise me on this.
Many thanks
Barry

Firstly, it's annoying when things like this happen.
However, I'll move on - petrol flaps are plastic and they often vary in hue and look off colour next to the metal panel they fit.
The mark on the door sounds like it has been rubbed/polished too hard - I would invite them to get it refinished correctly.
The MOT advisory would have been available as it does say on the green MOT certificate if an advisory note has been issued, so you could have checked there and then.
Also, it's worht noting that one MOT testers view can, and will be different to the next testers view. Coupled with the fact that you have gone into a Mercedes dealership and invited them to find things wrong wrong with your car (which is what a health check basically is)
If the windscreen wasn't fitted correclty then you should get the garage to srt it out.
On the flip side of the coin, when you took delivery of the car you would have signed an invoice to say that you are happy with the car and are satified on it's condition...0 -
I feel for you, but surely you inspected and test drove the car? Did you not spot four of five tyres needed replacing?
If this is a reputable garage they will give you a refund / exchange. If not, see your solicitor asap."A nation's greatness is measured by how it treats its weakest members." ~ Mahatma Gandhi

Paint blemishes etc should have been noted by yourself before and if I were you I wouldn't really go there.

Thanks for the reply’s. What would you suggest as it’s a lot of money to put the car right. I was going to take the garage to small claims court as they are no longer replying to my letters and seek my money back, is the best option or would it be better to seek a part refund to the value it will cost me to do this?
Many thanks
