I want to emigrate - how much do I need?

Hi forum folks

This is my FIRST EVER forum ?

I have a decent amount of capital and would like to emigrate. I will start my proper research this week but for the heck of it I thought I'd ask a few experts out there (?)

If anyone would like to weigh in with an opinion that'd be just fine - I'll consider absolutely anywhere for the adventure of it...

Thanks

Depends on lots of things. How much capital are we talking about, what do you do for a job, how old are you, do you have anyone in other countries who will sponsor you if you need it ? You haven't given us much to go on really. It's a massive step, not one you could take without months, if not years of research. Some countries which were previously thought of as a good bet for people who emigrate are now in a worse position than the UK. Choose your destination wisely. Unless i was in my early 20's it's not something i'd do "for the adventure"
  • A lot of countries will want you to have a trade that they want rather than your capital.

Not even an expert could give useful advice based on what you've told us.

Where are you thinking of going to ("absolutely anywhere" could be Australia, Canada, Malawi, Switzerland, China, Cuba... with totally different prospects and requirements)?
What skills / experience do you have (and therefore how long is it likely to take to find a job, and how much will such a job pay)?
Are you going on your own?
Will you want to rent or buy a home?

and even though "This is my FIRST EVER forum" the Credit Card forum is not the best place to post this.
loose does not rhyme with choose but lose does and is the word you meant to write.

You go to the top of the list for the laziest post ever.
Dude all countries have different criteria for age/wealth/capital/qualifications/family links.
If you haven't got the nouse to realise this and look it up, you are unlikely to make a success of emigration.

    Simple.

If you have a reasonable amount of money you qualify for a retirement visa for Thailand.

Once there, find a Thai citizen willing to marry your (not difficult if you have adequate capital) and then the two of you can open a business together. Of course, all property has to be in the name of the Thai business partner, but if you marry someone you trust them, don't you?

And if it all goes wrong, suicide is still legal.

Seriously, you need to think it through a bit more before asking for advice.
  • Thank you all,

Particularly pineapple - anyone starting a sentence with 'dude' clearly has all the nouse required to make a success of their life. Perhaps you should speak to voyager2000 about what's legal?

Jones MUFC hope you enjoyed the game today :-O)

Red Pete - Absolutely anywhere means just that - sorry if it's confused you...

meer53 good advice you're right thank you...I'm still going though...

I'll find the right forum now....
  • First question, what is the main purpose of emigrating? Tax? Retirement? Lifestyle?

Some have attitude... I don't think mind does. :)

Was asking a fairly straight forward question.
