Went shoplifting at the Disneystore today.

Got a huge Buzz out of it.
  • I was looking at a V70 TDI. 2.5 litre engine and they're banging out 55mpg in a car that size.
Although I'm also watching this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/150664041285?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 for my winter car...

Realistically though... for a newly qualified driver? I've had a V70 (T5) and loved it but they are big. Also, with the OP's budget of £2-3k?

I'd stick to the smaller models for a "kinder" purchase price, insurance cost and size.
    :hello:
  • sorry i was wandering off subject a bit... Wouldn't recommend them for a new driver like you say, but yeah a smaller version.
  • I had a V70 2.5TDI. Not too bad on the fuel, but on the expensive side when something went wrong.

One of the last V40s - heated leather seats, less than 70k, new discs and pads, mot 03/12, less than £3k.

Great space for carting around a baby with all the stuff needed these days.

If you are seriously concerned about safety, you'd be best investing in an advanced driving course with the IAM or RoSPA

Fixed it for you. The aim of the game is not to have an accident in the first place.

It's all very well driving the correct way by IAM standards (I wish everyone would), but if the idiot in front/behind thinks your doing it wrong or "being cheeky" and tries to make your life difficult, then accidents can occur.
It's amazing how the perception of the right and wrong way to drive varies from person to person AND we've got to a point where nearly everyone drives around pretending to be the BIB.

It's time that some sort of compulsory theory retest was taken every few years, we need to remove these parasites from our roads and return to driving "by the book", I think this alone would reduce RTC's by half.

  • Hello there,

Many thanks for your replies:T. I shall definently be looking into Volvo's and although the Tank was tempting I might have parking issues where I live. My dad always bangs on about Volvos as he's been driving them for over 40 years but they've always been huge and a real !!!!!! to fix when something goes wrong - but then again my dad loves a challenge.

I may look into getting finance if getting a newer car would be a wiser move.

    Thanks for all your replies
