Help overdrawn due to rent going missing in banking system.

Options
Hi my tennet paid rent into the bank on the 10/09 which the letting agent still has not received. So the money has not come to me yet.

This was due to hit my account on the 15/9. The tennet has a paying slip but the cashier filled the wrong account number on.

My mortage went out on the 15/9 and now i am overdrawn. Am i able to reclaim my bank charges from the other bank as it us there error??

  • If you can show that you have incurred a loss as a direct result of the bank's error then yes.
Are you sure that it was the bank who filled in the paying in slip and not the tenant?

Why not ask him to pay by standing order? No need to go into bank?
  • Thanks i have asked them to pay by standing order and the letting agent have also asked. They have said the cashier at the bank filled the form in so i can only go by what they tell me. I am also thinking of getting rid of my letting agent as they are useless and have left me to do all the chasing up.
  • As the owner of the property I would put in a clause in the next renewal of the tenancy agreement that they pay by standing order or that they will be fully liable to you for any costs incurred with any future late payments.
  • Thanks for your advice.
