If I arranged to meet the girl on the left and got the girl on the right, I'd feel really irritated.

Not that I meet girls off the internet, being female, but it does seem a bit deceptive...as for foundation, well, they can have that on when they meet, too. Hopefully by the time the foundation has come off, it won't matter so much. I don't wear it, but I presume these people keep it on all day? And regardless, it's not quite the same as editing your pictures...it's just misleading.

But you probably will have an audience, there are a lot of weirdos around - just not sure you'd get anyone willing to pay £10 per photo.

Think its a bit unfair calling people weirdos for wanting to fix a few photos.
  • You asked if we would use the service.
The answer from me is absolutley NO
    Owing on CC £00.00 :j

It's like shooting nerds in a barrel
  • think i'll try being an Avon rep instead, same thing really!
  • You get everywhere Level200!

There will be a limited market for it I would imagine, the challenge will be finding the people that are interested in the service. It would suggest a deal with the dating site company but then why do they go to you rather than finding an offshorer who would give them a larger cut/ be willing to charge less?

I think it is limited as having looked at a number of sites in the past 50% of the photos at least are terrible mobile self portraits etc. I very much doubt that really there are so few people with no digital cameras of their own or which friends etc have and therefore assume the majority don't care too much what the picture looks like.
  • I've used dating sites and I can assue you that photo touch up is really frowned apon and many of the dating sites have rules against posting edited photos.
Touching up a portrait that someone is going to hang in their house and touching up a photo which is in effect going to be used as a advertisment is two different things.

Anyway, I certainly wouldn't use a service like that. You might get a couple of clients if you sell the service for peanuts but I would suggest you try putting your tallents to better and more ethical use.

Presumably makeup, push up bra's and tummy control pants are all equally unethical? I am not sure the difference between covering a mole with concealer and taking a photo of you (without mole) -v- take a photo without makeup and then using the retoucher tool to remove the mole?
  • There is a market for digital photo retouching, look on some of the modelling sites such as Purestorm, Model Mayhem and Net-Model . Also there is work online for retouchers in many speres other than the social web. how about landscape photographers (Taking electricity pylons etc out of the shot) and architecture (removing lampposts from the front of buildings) . There is a big market out there, you just need to get signed up on relevent sites and get known. Portrait manipulation usually doesn't pay ay well as you expect but if you market your skills well and target potential customers, it could work for you. Don't get down hearted by some of the answers you have got on here. Them as doesna try, doesna get.
