NUS Cards, are they worth it?

Just thought I'd post to say that there are a lot of places doing 20% discount at the moment- I went shopping yesterday and saved in new look, peacocks and internationale (this was without an NUS extra card- just my standard student card, which does say NUS on the back although none of the shops looked for this).
