Why the delay?

in Credit cards
I just did an online application for a new credit card (I repay in full every month, figured I should have a rewards card, rather than the bog-standard one I get from the bank)
I am used to instant decisions when I apply for anything - but I have got an email saying they need to do "extra checks" and I will get a response within 10 days
It is 18 months since I last applied for any credit, and according to my own bank, I have an excelent credit raiting - is there any reason for the delay, or is it just because I applied at a weekend?
the only POSSIBLE thing I could worry about is that my building was only turned into flats about 5 years ago, and not every post-code database lists it the same way - I put it in the way I usually do, but you never know........

Dunno. Unfortunately my crystal ball is on the blink and has gone for repair.
Ask me again in a few days.0 -
I was more wondering if anyone had similar experiences of something odd preventing an instant decision
incase there was something obvious I had missed0 -
I think you will just have to be patient and wait and see what happens. Just imagine we are back in the days when we used to post credit card applications off in envelopes and everybody had to wait for a reply.0

You'll realise that banks are not handing out bundles of money easily these days. Things seem to have changed in recent years with regards how easily obtainable credit is.It is 18 months since I last applied for any credit
Maybe you should show a little more patience. An instant decision doesnt mean acceptance.I am used to instant decisions when I apply for anything
Good luck0
