New laptop is it faulty ???

:confused: Hi bought a refurbished laptop from dixons for xmas .:confused:

:confused: Can anyone with a laptop out there tell me if theirs does this or it mine faulty?? Never had a laptop before !!:confused:

:confused: When the power supply is plugged in you get a green light on the box bit ( please excuse my termology ):confused:

:confused: when I unplug this from the mains and the computer is switched off the green light stays on which is quite confusing !!! :confused:

After about 3 mins it goes out :confused::confused:
any help appreciated

    sounds like there is no battery installed or it hasn't been charged.

  • it works on battery fine its just the charger bit that might have a problem if that makes sense.

  • If you mean the "box bit" that has one cable going to the power socket and one cable going to the laptop then that is perfectly normal.

    ah it just seems that it has power going to it/through it. Like a On light on a TV, Kettle, monitor etc.

  • It kind of "stores" it before sending it on to the laptop so when you switch it off it just takes a little time for it all to fall out the end again! If you see what I mean.

    Yep, it's very common for them to do that. I've noticed it with other things as well.

    thats right 3 mins had to keep checking it wasnt plugged in !!!!!
