BMI diamond club joke

I always enjoyed flying with BMI and it was my first choice on many flights. I became Diamond Club member a couple of years ago and got myself the Amex credit card to earn miles and get a free flight: Thanks Martin!
Today I sat down to book a ticket with my earned miles which I have been collecting for some time now. I know I still have to pay the fees and charges which came to £120, bit high but surely it's cheaper then the normal ticket. Well.... It's not! Tickets bought as a non Diamond Club member was £112 for the same flights! I'm very disappointed, is this how they treat their loyal clients??
I'm really annoyed, I could have used a different credit card all this time and actually earn some real rewards...

How many miles do you have ?
You need to go to BMI forum on Flyertalk and work out the complexity of getting the best value for your miles.
The best value tickets are those in Business\First and the fees\taexs and fuel charges usually mean your ticket costs the same as an economy one, but you fly in business.
Another great advantage of the FF miles is their flexibilty. You can cancel with onyl a £25 fee, you can change routes\dates (may get a £20 fee) and you can get a free stopover.
I flew First class Frankfurt-Tokyo (free stop over)then Business to NZ
Then Business NZ-Sydney (24 hrs-NYE:D) Istanbul (free stopover) Home.
Takes some working out but with perseverance it can be done.0 -
Anyone that does their research will know that award flights in economy are poor value. Far better to use them for business class travel. Having said that, you are not comparing like for like - the £112 ticket would be inflexible, whereas the award flight would be completely flexible subject to a £20 fee.0

I've got approx 13500 miles and only need to book London-Berlin flight for Christmas which is 9000 miles. My dates are fixes and I'm really not bothered about Business Class, was just hoping for a cheap flight home for Xmas

You can have a cheap flight without using your points - sounds like a win win to me?0
