Power Cut!

hi.....Living where I do, short and occasional power cuts are a fact of life!

Normally, if I am aware of one, I simply ignore it, curse at having to re-set clocks, timers, etc...and get on with life!

However, yesterday I decided to actually 'report' a power cut!

What a palaver!

First, I called the number on my provider's bill front, [for power cuts]....

This was an 0800 number.

Which, after several minutes of pointless admin and PR, led me to a series of choices...of which, power outage was not the most prominent!

Pressing the correct number simply led me to another voice, informing me I had to phone a second number!

This was an 0845 number!

Once connected, another few minutes were spent trawling through interminable drawling sales and admin, followed by a selection.....

When the number was pressed, this led to yet another selection, another number to call...which was the first one I called anyway!

Ploughed through the automated exchanges yet again, to be 'informed' I had to call a third number!

Eventually I got through to an automated postcode checker, voice activated..which couldn't read my post code, so got transferred to a real voice!..

at that point, my battery went flat!
No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......

  • There is normally a number on the back of the bill that says - Network Emergencies / Power Cuts.

Phoning your supplier will most of the time just result in them telling you, you have called the wrong number and transferring you through to the Distribution company.
  • In the past I've reported loads of power cuts to Central Networks. If somebody else has already reported or if it's scheduled work there's a recorded message 'We are aware of a problem in the ** area. Our engineers are on the way/working to repair. We expect most customers will be reconnected by **'
Now they're obviously are using some kind of number recognition as the message is only ever applicable to my location. Also if there's no recorded message then I get straight through to a person as I'm the first to report the outage.
