Hi
Ive been heavily involved in fundraising events at my son's primary school - now he is at secondary school I want to continue raising funds - however as children come to school by bus/ walk - there is no interaction with parents in the playground .....
What have PTAs oragnised at secondary schools (small and large events/ schemes to raise funds) - and which are well supported by parents and children - thanks
Caroline

ours did a quiz evening at least once a year, and also served (and charged for) refreshments at all parents evenings. And ran a second hand uniform shop at all such evenings. There was a summer fair, jointly with the feeder primary and parish church. There was probably more, but they've all been out of it for a while, and TBH satchel post wasn't that reliable!
I have to confess that I supported very little of this, mainly because I was still up to my eyes with the primary school until DS3 left, and then I heaved a huge sigh of relief and stopped!
Oh, and you have to bear in mind that secondary schools are full of teenagers. Therefore events which are well supported by BOTH parents AND children are tricky, because (as you are about to learn, I'm afraid!) it is NOT COOL to be seen within 100 yards of your parents. :rotfl:
Have just remembered, there was a lot of fundraising done by the children themselves, although this was mostly for local charities chosen by pupils. Regular non-uniform days for which payment of £2 was required, cake sales, sponsored thingies, etc.Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
