Talk Talk Router - Just Died

My friends TalkTalk router just "died" the other night, she asked me to look at it, power to socket was ok and to light in same socket etc, so power was to it, pressed the reset button nothing happened, no lights on it all ??? anyone else suffered this - I take it she just asks TalkTalk for another one??

it might just be the power adapter itself -- happened to my Ozenda router several yrs ago.

Invest in a multimeter - everyman should have one in their toolkit - oly a tenner.

    Hi Salopman,

If the customer is still in the minimum contract period then the router can be replaced free of charge under the terms of the warranty.

If op is out of minimum sign up period they will have to pay talktalk for new router or agree to sign up for another 12/18/24 months
Might be better to get another router altogether.... perhaps the talktalk rep would be kind enough to post the router settings that we should use....I know that getting this information out of the tech support guys is like getting blood out of a stone which is shameful really

ISP logon details:- as per your welcome letter, user format yourname@talktalk.net, password usually 8 (or so) alphanumeric characters, alternating letter and number.

Other settings are:- PPPoE/PPPoA, VPI 38, VCI 0, MTU 1452 usually works on TT :)

    Hi 1jim,

I can confirm the settings GunJack has provided are correct. These appear on a number of threads on the TalkTalk members forum should any other users require this. We use a default setting of 1432 for MTU however slight changes to this value can result in improved connection depending on your line (some users find 1400 works better, on occasion 1500 can also give improvements but identifying the precise MTU requires some ping tests to be completed.)
