    Different braces do different jobs.

Plus, fixing the braces does nothing to improve treatment outcomes if the child is unwilling or uncooperative. Fixed braces can still be broken very easily (probably more easily) so the child has to still be cooperative, and lookafter them.

Plus - fixed braces can cause a lot more problems with gum inflammation if toothbrushing isn't perfect.

Really?? I didn't know that. All my nieces/nephews have had fixed braces and none have broken. I just presumed that removeable braces wouldn't do anything if the child didn't actually wear them... ;)

Your neices and nephews, like the majority of kids who have orthodontic treatment, are likely to be well motivated, and careful then! :)

And you're quite right, removable ones won't do anything if they're removed! (Personally I hate the term 'removable' because it suggests you can just pop them out if you fancy a day off!)

Which is why in both cases, fixed or removeable, the first thing you need is a patient who you feel will cooperate.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.
