My laptop had the smallest amount of water spill on it (using the mrs' lappy now), and it stopped working. I have put it in the airing cupboard as soon as it happened (now been 24 hours), and it does not work.
Whilst I am a former IT engineer, I do not want to take it apart (it is out of warranty but if I can convince Acer to take it back all seals will be in place).
It is out of warranty by 6 months, however I would hope that if I can get it dry and it still doesn't work, I hope acer can fix it under sales of goods act.
I phoned around and the average cost of repairing the board is £300+ labour...not impressed with that!
Any idea on how I could get it working beyond leaving it in the airing cupboard?

Hopefully you did remove the battery, fully open with the keyboard face down? I usally recommend 48 hours min before deciding whether the damage is irreversible without major surgery.0

Battery was removed after about 2 hours (I had never ever come across this before in my job as IT engineer) so didnt know to do it. To remove the laptop I would have to break seals to unscrew it (Acer are a pain like that so had no option but to leave it in case I can get it sent back). It has been in the airing cupboard for around 26 hour now.
As I said I have taken it apart as much as possible so that it can get air / get dried quicker but refuse to break any seals.- Total Debt :£190,000 - Mortgage

Yes, taking the battery out is an absolutely necessary step, as is leaving it much longer than just a day. Turning it upside down or not is debatable and a point of contention.
I don't see what the SOGA has to do with it - you caused the damage?
Many IT repair guys give insane estimates for replacing motherboards - mostly because they'll send it to someone else to be fixed.
What did you actually do as an IT Engineer out of curiosity?0
