In the winter, you can feel the cold coming through as soon as you get near the cooker. Plus it allows noise to travel in from next doors driveway. I can hear their conversations as they get in the car of a morning.

I did forget one thing, the IKEA hoods have a one way vent, so when switched on the flaps open up to allow airflow, they don't allow air back into the hood itself, but the pipe between wall and hood unit will cause an opportunity for heat loss....0
