Door Knockers

Is it just me or do they seem to now be doing a door version of the phone call thing where they dial loads of numbers and speak to the one that picks up first?
This has happened to me twice this week, I have a new born and am a bit slow, but not ridiculously slow, to answer the door but it seems that they knock on my neighbours door too and when I open the door they ask me to hold on a second.
Hold on a second? you bloody knocked at my door grrrr
RSPCA and EDF you suck (this week) :-D

You're complaining because you didn't get to the door in time for the RSPCA, or did you just want to slam it in their face?0

Slam it in their face actually lol... no seriously, i was maybe 5 seconds behind my neighbour opening their door. That kind of behaviour is incredibly rude, I would have happily just told them I donate to the RSPCA already and let them coo over my dogs like the RSPCA callers usually do.0 -
I wish a pair of knockers would turn up unannounced on my door step."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

It depends what they were collecting for then. What a lot of people don't realise, is that monthly donations go to the RSPCA head office and sit in their bank so they can build lovely new offices and pay their directors, huge amounts.
When you get somebody knocking at the door, they're normally collecting for your local rescue as they get nothing at all from your monthly donations. Which is why RSPCA rescues are always struggling for donations, they're one of the richest charities in the UK but give nothing to the local rescues.
It's an old story but nothing changes http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1402352/RSPCA-millions-go-on-politics-and-HQ.html
So if you're going to donate to the RSPCA, you really are better giving it to your local rescue directly

I can't stand knockers, myself.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.
Now 20% cooler0 -
Working from home does have disadvantages sometimes.
I tend not to answer the door unless it first thing (postman) or I am expecting a delivery.
Luckily I live in quite a secluded turning and the entrance looks from a distance like the sort that would have an intercom which cuts the nuisances down for sure, however I have had energy salespeople, god botherers and a couple of charity reps (not the charities themselves) in the last six months or so.0 -
I had the rspca call once about donating - my cat followed me to the door and i told them that my baby comes first to make sure it doesn't end up like those malnourished and abused animals that they then have to take care of. They said o just a £1 a month and I told them that i can buy a box of dry cat food for that price and feed my cat for a week so the answer was no.
stupid people that call yea im gonna donate so i do not have the money to feed my own animal ... don't think so somehow.0 -
I printed off a No Cold Calling sign off this site, works a treat as they knock on my neighbours door but not mine.Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)0

LOL I did the same thing when I had a newborn just saying 'No Cold Callers - Newborn sleeping'. Don't know if it was the sign or just luck but it never happened again, lol!I printed off a No Cold Calling sign off this site, works a treat as they knock on my neighbours door but not mine.
Personally, if the caller was with the neighbour after having rung by bell/knocked on the door, and told me to hold on, I would tell them not to call back ever and slam the door.:cool:0
