USB port on Sky+ box.

Does anyone know what the USB port on the Sky+ box is for?

Sky don't use it for anything at the moment but you can use it to charge mobiles etc.

Ah, I was hoping I could transfer recorded programmes to a memory stick or HDD so I could watch elsewhere on my laptop.

No you can't use it to transfer anything, why don't you just use SkyGo to watch them on your laptop?

I don't have Sky, let alone a TV. Can I still use SkyGo if I sign in with mums details? And, does it cost anything?

Yes you can and no it doesn't. You can use Sky Go on two devices, like your iPhone and a laptop.
The programmes you get will be the same as those on your mum's account.

Apparently you can use the USB port to install/update firmware, but it's not for the feint-hearted and it's not recommended unless you know what you are doing!!
