free international calls from mobiles

I have just found a NEW, at least new to me, offer from 02.
They have something called ''favourite places'' - You can opt in from their 4444 number by following their instructions.
It is an alternative to their ''free anytime/ free evening weekends'' promotions that have been running for years.
For a £10 topup it give 500 ANYTIME mins per month from a postcode you nominate to landlines and o2 numbers and is therefore similar to their ''Home 100/Home 250'' bolt ons.
It doesn't suit anyone who makes lots of calls from outside of their local area OR to other networks but could be great for anyone who likes to make long calls to landlines/O2 mobiles from their local area.
I find that with ''story telecom'' I can get £5.00 of credit from my airtime via text and then using a landline number they give, and ''favourite places'' get international calls to OZ/N Zealandfor 1p per min, which while NOT QUITE free is very cheap indeed.0 -

Using the anytime minutes from your postcode to an o2 mobile you can use the https://www.pre-dial.com 07730 o2 number (Click on free destination list to see).Using this o2 gateway number you can call OZ/NZ from your anytime minutes at Evenings and Weekends saving you the £5 top ups.
You can now also get 500 minutes of free calls to one o2 number for 3 months. https://shop.o2.co.uk/glossary/N#Number_One You could nominate the pre-dial o2 number.;)
Another cheap way from o2 payg is to sign up for http://www.18185.co.uk/mobilerates.php and use the anytime minutes to call their 020 gateway number. (4p connection) , 2p a minute to OZ/NZ.Using this service your also get cheaper x-net mobile and ngn calls.0 -

thanks - I'll check up on that.
Addendum; I checked on my mobile and find that with ''favourite place'' free minutes the 07730 number DOES work for international calls but ONLY OFF PEAK - a voice first says ''free call'' and then qualifies it by telling caller; ''sorry this service is only available off peak; please call back after 7 pm''.
This is none the less a very useful service as due to time differences it is most convenient anyway to call Aus/NZ after 7pm and weekends.
I also find that I can use up my story text and talk time up on my landline via a freephone number and a pin number which they have given to me so my money has not been wasted; Thanks again. Karin0 -
