Finding a new bank

My husband and I are looking to changing banks. We are currently with HSBC and have not liked the service for many years for various reasons. We are finally looking to move.
We are only after basic bank and savings accounts, but would prefer British call centres only and access to online banking.
Are there any recommendations of banks that meet the above on here?
Much appreciated.

First Direct from me, but they don't offer basic accounts, and whilst they're part of the HSBC group I have so far, found them much better than HSBC ever were.0

I am with RBS and although there is always a Scottish person who answers the phone at the call centre PLEASE DO NOT switch to them. They have made several BIG errors on my account in the last few years. Sending my new card to an adress I had never used with the bank, getting my adress wrong then taking three goes to finally get the card (which needed to be sent to branch and was sent to a branch 50 miles away), then not cancelling a standing order and taking several calls and over two weeks to sort out.
I have considered changing to Co op as I have an ISA with them and have always been impressed by the service. WOuld anyone like to elaborate on the experience there, especially the pay monthly accounts (I know but the travel insurance, breakdown cover and mobile phone insurance are all things I have and cost more than the amount per month).0 -
I would recommend Lloyds Tsb or Natwest. Both have uk call centres, and Great online banking. Lloyds savings accounts tend have better rates than Natwest so if your looking for a decent rate on your savings I don't think Natwest will be your answer on that one but it depends on what your looking for.It takes two to tango!:rotfl:0
