To quote from
you can't use a CDL for "a foundation or access course used as a step towards a degree course (however, a stand-alone foundation course that leads to employment in its own right would be eligible)"
Could I not just tell them it is to get straight back into employment? or do they do alot of checks.
Howcome you can't use it like that because at end of the day IT IS helping you DEVELOP your career.

Could I not just tell them it is for employment? I really could do with this loan.
Could I have no chance of getting it the normal way?0 -

I think that might be classed as fraud.
You are earning at present aren't you? If this is so important to you why can't you scrimp and scrape for the next 5/6 weeks and perhaps ask your Dad if he can lend you the shortfall?:snow_grin"Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow........":snow_grin0 -

A couple of questions so I can try and help.
Do you need the GCSEs to get on to the Access course or you need GCSEs for the degree course after the Access?
Which GCSEs are you wishing to do?
What degree do you hope to do after the Access?
How old are you?0 -
speak to your local council education department.0

if its for English and Maths you probably can do them in your spare time and they are generally funded as there the ones everyone generally requires for jobs. If you can go on and do a btech etc then generally they will put you into GCSE's alongside them. What about doing them in the morning if your on regular afters? It will be a pain, but if its something you want to do then it could well be possible, but it depends what you want them for. If you want to study them and start now you need to be enrolling now as most have started back i believe. It also depends upon your age as if your under 19 you still may well get funding from local FE colleges or 6th forms. It just depends upon your age, what previous qualifications you have and the like as to what you can get funding for in the future:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one

GCSEs are not put alongside BTECs, HNCs etc. If it's purely for a CV then Level 2s in Literacy and Numeracy are the governments preferred choice.
GCSEs in English and Maths are only typically funded if the student is younger than 24 (as of this years SFA regulations) although some colleges may offer a programme that leads from a Level 2 to a GCSE for free; you'll need to contact your local FE colleges rather than your councils education department.
Banks won't give a CDL for GCSEs as it's not furthering any career.0 -
I know your probably not based in Nottingham, but read through page 14 on this http://www.ncn.ac.uk/documents/public/Marketing/Prospectus/CourseGuide-FullTime.pdf
as i'm sure other places you would study at might do the same. Can you drop down to a 4 day week or do the 5th day on a weekend so you have a weekday to do your GCSE's (as night school is generally about 3 hours contact time with a tutor, so if you need 2 or 3 and can combine them its possible.:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one:beer::beer::beer:

Leaving aside the question of fraud, how on earth are you going to be able to make repayments on loan when you're on an Access course, for which there is very little funding anyway?0
