Claiming PPI as I was denied payout when needed

Hi, just something that's been playing on my mind.
I had two credit cards and was paying PPI on both of them. At the time of taking out the credit cards, I was told that if I lost my job, I could claim.
Fast forward a few years. I left one job for another, and lost that job after a few months. Did everything asked to be able to claim, but the claim was declined as there was a time limit on how long I had to be in employment, and I fell short of that. I was not told this at the time of taking out the PPI. The cards then defaulted and I've been referred to debt collectors, and I am slowly paying off the cards.
Would I have a claim for reclaiming PPI?

It might be. Alternatively, you might have a valid complaint that the claim was unfairly declined, resulting in debt and your credit file being trashed.0

You cant claim premiums back because a claim was declined, this is only if it was found to be mis-sold to you. Mis-sales and decline claims are different things.
If at the time of sale you were employed for ie 2 years, then no problem. If you went from one job to another then there may not be a mis-sale. i.e. If at time of sale you were employed for 1 year, then later down the line you had been in employment for 2 months when trying to claim, then the bank isnt at fault if you didnt satisfy the conditions.0 -

I agree.
Just try to pay off the debt as quick as possible.
Hope all goes well for you.0 -
I think the complaint would be on the grounds that the change of employment clause was not pointed out at the time of sale (depending on whether it was).0
