Price Comparisons

  • seems very odd behaviour from Tesco

Especially considering another article which is supposed to allow price checking on phones

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/news/4740-tesco-to-trial-free-wi-fi-in-stores.html I must admit I have been wary of Tesco being a law unto themselves after this: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-2029808/Tesco-branded-shoplifter--happen-YOU.html

And why do they have a price checker in store URL="https://www.tescopricecheck.com/PriceCheck/Pages/Default.aspx"]and online[/URL as well.
  • This is unbelieveable. I would like to know exactly which piece of legislation is being contravened by wiring down prices and even taking an image in a supermarket. I am struggling to imagine what the offence would be.

Ask them what legislation you are breaking, they usually answer it does not matter, to which you can say oh good then, right talking to me without my permission is now illegal, they usually reply dont be so stupid... Errr You started it.:rotfl:

I usually write notes of prices on the notes section so if anyone I'd wAtching you would probably look and claim to be texting

  • MOVING THREADS TO DT/ARMS

Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances:
I’ve asked Board Guides to move discussions from the MoneySaving boards if they’re not related to MoneySaving to help everyone find the MoneySaving tips and discussion quicker (please see this rule) so this post/thread has been moved to Discussion Time/The Arms. There is no legislation barring customers from checking and comparing prices. However, supermarkets send undercover market researchers to check entire price lists in competitor stores, and as they're all at it, when a manager sees someone price checking they are immediately suspicious.

I know, because I've done price checking for two major supermarkets in the past, but have always been careful to pretend I was shopping, and there are tricks to deal with long lists that may require one to spend an hour or more in store. ;)

Price checking isn't enough I find. To ensure genuine 'like for like' you have to open up the packets and count the biscuits :)

    They don't mind, honest. ;)

Let's face it if you relied on Tesco staff for legal advice you'd be scared to walk sideways on a Tuesday whilst making a mobile phone call and eating a packet of value crisps.

why would tesco be worried anyway , they aremaking £billions as it is , someone comparing prices of a tin of beans or whatever it was is not going to affect their turnover or profit
