Macauley Kitchens - Bankrupt

Had ordered a kitchen with Macauley Kitchens and had paid a £3,000 deposit. Have just received a phone call to tell me Macauley Kitchens ceased trading on Friday.
I paid the deposit on Credit Card, does anyone know if I'll be covered by section 75 on the card ???
They've been bought over by another company and they say they'll put in our kitchen for the same price, but don't know if my deposit is lost, won't find out until Monday when I have to go sign a new contract.
Does anyone know if I'm covered ???

Funny you said that cos on Friday i was stuck behind a kitchen van through Ballymoney and it turned into Macauleys depot and I thought to myself - "wonder if they have gone bust"
As far as I know you are covered by section 75
This might help you http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/section75-protect-your-purchases0 -
Oh dear that must be so worrying for you at the minute. I'm not 100% sure but I imagine it would be the same situation as a holiday company going bust. As well as the above link there is a website - sorry I don't have the link at present - but it spells out your rights under visa rules and regulations scheme. If you google those words in varying order you may find it. I found it useful when I had to claim money back when a holiday company went bust last year. It was straightforward - filled in a form in the bank and then waited for a required number of days and then was reimbursed in total. Getting reimbursed by Ryanair as a result of the volcanic ash was a little bit more arduous but successful in the end. Hope it all works out well for you.Treat the Earth well,It was not given to you by your parents,It was loaned to you by your children.Masai proverb0

You will be protected by the credit card company and anyway business often go through a restructure and continue, the people who run the company are very honourable and will not let you down. Have no concerns0

Does this refer to the Ballymoney or Belfast unit?
I have a 10 year kitchen guarantee from their Ballymoney Headquarters taken out about 4 years!
Would a new company honour existing guarantees?0 -
Hi,
Update on the situation, went to the show room this morning and have been told they're a totally new company. My understanding is that the Belfast shop is continuing but not the Ballynena one. Not sure if Headquarters
is seperate place. I had to sign a new contract which showed I had paid no deposit but the purchase price of the kitchen was reduced by the amount I'd originally paid so all being well I won't be out any money. At my insistence
they did wave the 3% credit card payment charge, as I insisted I would not pay cash under any circumstances. They did tell me that their credit card account might not be setup until next week, so it must be totally new.0 -

This is not a restructure as they say they're a totally new company and I'm not sure honourable is a word I would use in this situation. The company has not shut down and opened again immediately without someone losing out, my guess is it's the tradesmen/suppliers they owe money to0 -
Hi,
Has the company gone into administration?
If so, I presume you can make a claim on your original deposit.0 -
The doors were closed today on the showroom. If you had paid on your credit card you should be covered by your credit card company, if you paid by cheque there is a possibility of getting your money back, if you paid by cash (which i have heard alot of their customers did) you will probably lose your money. I really feel sorry for those that have lost out, i know people who were let down by MFI and also Moben0

I'm sure somebody somewhere is owed money.
But if the end result is you get your kitchen, this would be no concern to you.0
