DW owns a samsung X15plus laptop. The power adapter doesn't work (power goes to it, the green light is on but the laptop doesn't charge).
So far, we've tried
partmaster.co.uk - claimed our laptop didn't exist and we've been waiting 4 days for a call-back
PC World (where we bought the laptop 2 years' ago) who said that the laptop was made by them on behalf of Samsung then referred us to partmaster
Maplins - only universal adapter in stock didn't fit and the other one they normally stock didn't say it was compatible to Samsung laptops (according to the blurb on their website)
Samsung webiste - referred to two UK distributors for parts, neither of them had the relevant item in stock according to their website.
Can anyone offer any other suggestions as to what we can do next?
Thanks in hope
Mark

you need to be 100% it's not the socket on the motherboard thats faulty
do you have some sort of meter that can show voltage...and test the output from the charger
also check that the battery has not died by removing it and trying the laptop with just the power supplyEx forum ambassador

Sounds like the battery is dead usually the first thing to go.
Try http://www.pcservicecall.co.uk and look for your laptop/notebook in the pcsupport section. Find out what kind of battery you need then search froggle, ebay etc. for the battery you need.
Also try getting hold of a battery monitor to find out how much wear the battery has had. Battery Info is the one I use to test laptop/notebook battery though I cannot remeber who makes the software at the moment.Scottish proverb - "Never drink whisky with water and never drink water without whisky"0 -

You could try ebay for a new battery? Might be cheaper?0

Our local pc world was selling off lots of odds and ends the other weekend and I noticed they had several power adapters... it's a long shot but try giving a few of your local stores a call.0

Just in case you do need a new power cable in the future, you can get generic ones with various adaptors with different ends, you could try and find one of these that is compatible - just check the current and voltage on your current cable.
This is how we replaced our modem cable.0
