hi, does anyone know who i should ring to get my DLA award letter re-sent to me?
i've turned the house upside down but can't find it, and i know that that's the only thing i can use as proof of being in receipt of it, so i can get concessions for museums etc
thanks

hi, my son was awarded middle rate care and low rate mobility from dec 2011 to jan 2014, i have just found out it has been stopped since last week? i rang them up and they said the award ended in jan 2013, it clearly states on my award letter that the award ends in jan 2014 i am now waiting for a phone call to tell me if i have to make a new claim because of a typing error? as it is on there system it was due to end in 2013 i did receive a renewal form but didednt fill it out because i thought i received it due to an error, because i was going off the end date on the award letter? can they do this even though i have the letter for proof:mad:0

Hi, Maybe the letter was misprinted in the first place? As you didn't contact them to see if they had made an error when you received the renewal form I think you might have to reclaim, even though its technically their error as they seem to have ended you award.I SUPPORT CAT RESCUE! I'm sorry your going through so much. CAB (citizens advice) can help you fill in the forms if you have trouble because of your own health. I'm afraid I don't know much about carers allowance so I'm not sure if you'll need to reclaim or if it can just continue once DLA have sent you your new claim decision. Hopefully someone else can answer that. I wish you a speedy recovery

Hey Mlward.
Given what you have said they have said on the phone it seems most likely that the original letter they sent you which included the DLA Award certificate was more than likely misprinted. However I hope you don't have to claim again given the issues you mentioned. Ineed mentioned the CAB (Citizen's Advice Bureau) that may be able to help you but I would try to see if any family/friends can help you too, such as parents/partners et cetera.
Although, saying that, I have read before in some of the DLA literature that the most common length DLA awards (besides "indefinite" awards) is three years which fits with your December 2011 - January 2014 range, so make sure the DWP don't "fob you off" so to speak. Depending on your son's disability that resulted in him being awarded DLA I am surprised he didn't get an "indefinite" award given almost three quarters of all DLA claimants have "indefinite" awards.
Also, Ruby's Mummy, when it gets to you, PHOTOCOPY IT and stick the photocopy on the fridge or something and the actual copy/letter in a safe place where you will remember it is stored there..
