I've had four PVRs..a Humax PVR8000T (still working), a Sharp TU160 (died), Topfield 5810 (very temperamental)..now replaced with a Humax HDR Fox T2 Freeview box.

I wouldn't recommend Topfield to anyone who wants "ease of use". I had nothing but a nightmare with the constant crashes and lock-ups..I'm waiting to see if Turbosat will honour the warranty on it. And yes, I had MyStuff installed on it. Had to keep doing a reset and reinstall of MyStuff to get it to work, every few weeks. And that's after deleting surplus channels.

I'm a big fan of Humax and getting the Fox T2 felt like having an old friend back. The universal remote and ease of use make it for me.
  • I heard that Topfield shot themselves in the foot with ignoring customers, at the time of the big hoo-har when the digital switchover occurred (which also affected most Humax owners too, me included), Humax worked on a solution, but I heard that Topfield didn't bother and have now pulled out of the UK. At the time I bought my 9200T I was considering spending another £80 for a Toppy because it was much better on paper, but now I'm glad I didn't.
Next for me is the HDR-T2, but am currently holding for the eventuality ofYouview arriving and i'll probably get the Humax offering of that instead (assuming it happens before the 9200 eventually dies).

I imagine if it comes they'll just slip it in an update...like they did with iPlayer...

Ah but I read YouView is an entirely new platform and nothing current will be compatible with it, so it's not just a case of updating firmware.
