They just had something like this for Alliance and Leicester customers, worth remembering to do it if you have an account.

Thank you, I just logged on to my bank account and noticed I was charged £200 for a cashpoint transaction when it said "we are unable to process your transaction" and spat my card out.

    Thanks very much :)

A huge thank you to all who post the comps and deals that make life so much fun!
  • I don't understand... I just have to log in each day to be in the daily draw?

EDIT: I read the T&Cs and it didn't help. Though I did notice this:

...with an existing personal current account, who has registered for Internet banking by 12pm on the 31st January 2007 and has opted to receive personalised messages.

Prizes must be claimed within 72 hours of winners seeing the message’. This message will appear on the Internet banking ‘Account Overview’ screen at any time during the period between 18th December 2006 and 31st January 2007.

  • Only giving 450 away???
According to the Daily Mail they ordered 70000 for this year's student campaign but only opened 26000 accounts so they have 44000 leftover!
  • ^Maybe they're keeping them for another promotion? I'm not surprised that they have so many left, as you had to deposit £500 into the account before 31st October, and I can't imagine may students have that :P

I got my free one for opening a student account and sold it on ebay, haha.

Lloyds boss to face iPod music
    Karl West, Daily Mail
    3 January 2007

Lloyds TSB has struggled to sign up customers to its 'free iPod' student account, leaving about 44,000 Apple-made Shuffles 'sitting gathering dust in a warehouse', according to a leading City analyst.

James Eden at Dresdner Kleinwort said the black horse bank aimed to set up 70,000 student accounts, but at the start of October - after the college term had started - it had shifted just 26,000 of the music boxes.

The revelation will come as an acute embarrassment to Lloyds' new £575,000-a-year retail chief Terri Dial. She joined in June 2005 from US bank Wells Fargo to revive the company's flagging retail arm.

Her appointment was trumpeted as 'a real coup' and it was said she would make a 'terrific contribution' to the business. Yet it would seem she has singularly failed to make up ground on Royal Bank of Scotland in the student market.
Industry data shows RBS actually extended its lead to 42% of new accounts, far outpacing Lloyds whose share was static at 12%.

Banks are keen to woo undergraduates as they tend to be lucrative customers once they have left education and found well paying jobs.

Eden was keen to note his story had a serious point. Lloyds TSB, up 6p at 577½p, continues to lag rivals in some key areas and appears unable to grow its 'core franchise'.

He cheekily added: 'If there are any remaining iPods, maybe Lloyds should give them to shareholders - it might make up for the fact that Lloyds TSB has underperformed HBOS by 15% over the past nine months.' A spokesman for the bank claimed Eden's figures were wrong, saying: 'Our student campaign was very successful, up 200% on the previous year.'

However, she declined to reveal how many new student accounts Lloyds opened, or how many iPods it ordered for the campaign.

The Dresdner analyst reckons he knows where some of the surplus iPods have gone. 'We have a friend at Birmingham Children's Hospital, where Lloyds TSB gave a very generous Christmas gift - one iPod Shuffle for every child,' he said.

This surprises me! I signed up for a student account... Because to me, by far, they offered the greatest incentives  I know that a lot of people are with HSBC... Who I'm sure they'll find are absolutely useless given time!
