I have just received a reminder, for a bill that was never delivered.
At the bottom of the reminder they say
"From 1st March 2007, Britsih Gas will charge customers £5 if we have not received payment before issuing a reminder notice."
So, if your bill gets lost, or delayed in the post, the first thing you will know about it is when BG charge you a fiver!
I have sent an email to Watchdog about this too, with a bit of luck they will tell even more people about it.

Why not simply pay by Direct Debit and get the additional discount? Better still switch to a different supply company! Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0

You do not get charged when you receive a red reminder, which is issued after 14 days. You get charged if they issue a disconnection notice, which they do after 28 days.
Sorry, I did look but couldn't find one.
That's not what it says on the reminder, it clearly says they will charge £5 if they have not received payment before issuing this notice.
As those words are printed at the bottom of a red reminder bill, it must mean they will charge the £5 if they haven't received the payment before they send the red bill.
I have just read the thread you mentioned, but my bill does not say it is a proposal, it says this is what they are going to do from 1st March 07.
I wonder what they would do if I send my payment by cheque and it got lost in the post?0
