Yes you do, I asked my insurance company the same question (and it was just a chip repair not a new windscreen).0

Yes, declare it. Declare everything and never lie to an insurer, otherwise when you need to claim they will have an escape route. We had a repair done and declared it for 3 years / 5 years (depending on insurer questions) but it had no effect on our premiums.ORIGINAL MORTGAGE AMOUNT £106,454.00 (Started Sept 2007)
NOV 2021 O/S AMOUNT £1,694.41 OUR DEBT REDUCED BY £104,759.59 by std regular, over-payments & off-setting.
BofE +0.19% Tracker Repayment Offset Mortgage Discounted Sept 07-10 then increased to BofE +0.62% until 20270 -
I just put my insurance renewal in the comparison site with and without the windscreen chip repair and it added £40 to the renewal price.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Did you claim for the windscreen chip repair or did you pay for it yourself?
If you claimed, then you really have answered your own question.0 -

Insurer paid it. However, had I realised that it would add £40 to premium (assume 3-5 years), it may well have been cheaper for me to pay for it directly.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). Insurers tell us to get windscreen chips repaired to minimise the costs for a replacement windscreen, they tell us a chip repair will not effect our NCD and that we will not have to pay for the repair (They handle it with the windscreen repair companies who I'm sure have a nice agreement with the insurers).
What they don't tell us is that they will increase the premium we have to pay for the next 3 to 5 years....so in effect we do have to pay for it.
