Bank offers minimum of £1,000 which can be paid back over 5 years but I only need about £500

I don't know if I can get a credit card because. Although I have a job now (possibly 2 after my interveiw) One of my jobs is agency so various hours, and other hasn't started yet.

I am looking to borrow around £500 by november 1st

If you get the loan, but the agency / job falls through how will you repay?
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
  • I have the job so how will it fall through :S

anyway even if I was on JSA, I have no other bills to pay so could afford it through that easy
  • anyone? :j
  • Your just not going to get such a small loan over a relatively long period.

And why if you only need £500 are you borrowing £1000?

Realistically you have no chance of getting such a loan.

Because £1,000 is the minimum the bank offers.
  • They offer smaller overdrafts.

First port of call would be your own bank, explain the circumstances and ask for an overdraft. If this is a no go - then it would be the dreaded payday loan route and I would never recommend that to anyone, whatever the circs. How long do you actually need the £500 for?

If I borrowed it in november. I could have the whole lot paid off by early january :/.

If I borrowed a grand I could probably pay it back by march

If you borrowed a grand and spent only the £500 you wanted, you could pay it back in early January couldn't you ?

Its agency work. That's why companies use agencies, as they can dismiss staff at a moments notice. No lender will consider you on agency work unless you have a guaranteed contract that is longer than the term of the loan you apply for.

    That's simply financial ineptitude.
