Can I stop Thunderbird marking mail as 'read' after it forwards them to my iPhone?e

I have set up Thunderbird to deliver/forward work Emails to my iPhone. This works fine, although there is one problem. When I get back to my desk the messages on my PC screen are showing as read because they have been forwarded to my phone. Is it possible to keep the messages being forwarded to my phone, but show those messages on my screen as unread until I actually click to read it?

May I suggest seeing if you can use IMAP instead of POP3? It basically means you can sync emails on any computers or devices with IMAP access to that email account.0

If it's work email, what mail system is being used at work? you could have a forward put on your mailbox itself rather than the mail client.0
