Put your annual usage in Kwh into a comparison site.

As above. Forget your monthly DD figures, what matters is actual usage and your annual bill. No need to crunch numbers, the comp site will do it for you in seconds. Why restrict yourself to Eon?
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
  • that is why i asked if anyone could suggest anything, i dont know the names of these comprisons sites, please give me the link. whatever it is i do not want direct debit

There are a number of site recommended on the main board...
BTW, eliminating monthly DD will screen out many of the cheapest tariffs.

If you refuse to pay by direct debit, you can be waving good bye to a significant discount of anything in the 5% to 10% range on your total bill. As long as you keep your supplier up-to-date with meter readings (say monthly), and review any change to the direct debit with them you can stay in control. I've found they're always helpful if you pro-actively manage your account and talk to them about why you'd like to adjust the monthly payment. I've never had any trouble with direct debits, and from what I've seen on here, its those that don't stay on top of the bills that do struggle - typically people seem to leave their bills for years, then get a shock when a bill is released based on actual readings, rather than estimates.

Otherwise the only discounts I've seen are for prepayment of the account.

As above - enter your annual usage details on uswitch/energy helpline/money supermarket/etc, go via the cashback sites and you might be able to pick up a £20 kick back too.

    Hi slenderkitten,

I just wanted to give you the info you have requested about the Track and Save 10 tariff.

E.ON Track and Save 10 guarantees that your bills will be cheaper than British Gas Standard bills until 1 October 2012 providing you pay by Direct Debit or promptly in full within 14 days of the bill.

You can collect Tesco points with this tariff and there is no cancellation fee.

You can also manage your account online, but we won't give any extra discount for this.

If you need any more specific info, just drop me an email to the address in my profile page.

    Helena :)

yes yes i already know about the dd benefits but it wont benefit me if i go over drawn one week because i miscalculated how much i could spend, i pay weekly standing order and more than what these tariffs actually ask me to pay so why they wont even consider me is ridiculous. i have been paying in this manner for about 11 months.

You can set up a direct debit for £10 fixed per month and then pay whatever amount you wish on a weekly basis by whatever method you choose. As long as when the bill is issued there is no outstanding balance to pay then the direct debit will stay at £10 per month. That's what I do.

You need to start thinking monthly. Most bills are monthly such as the big one rent or mortgage. Benefits will soon only be paid monthly. Many employers only pay monthly.

The more bills you arrange to pay by monthly direct debit the more money you will have in the long term.

If you find it difficult to remember that you can't touch a portion of your bank balance then set up a new bank account transferring your current weekly amount by standing order into that account and then setting up the monthly direct debit against that account.
