also pillow cases are suppose to be good for spare sheets. not sure if they are the right size for crib or just moses baskets.

I think pillow cases are too small for sheets for a crib- they are for mine at least. BUT if you put them at 90degrees (i.e width wise) across the sheet at the head end and tucked them in, they would do quite well as extra protection, instead of a muslin.

  • We had a fantastic time yesterday at the basket making course, but it really hit me when I got home - I was so tired I went to bed at 7pm!!! Still, it seems to have done the trick and I'm feeling fairly alert today. Didn't quite get the basket finished so hopefully i'll get that done tonight :) Turns out that after driving 15 miles for a course the tutor lives about 6 houses down from us... So I think we'll be knocking on the door asking to buy more willow as I have lots of baskety ideas :)

Unforutately our car was not behaving on the way home. Despite the new battery and new alternator, it's not charging properly, and we only just had working lights :( The new alternator was covered in oil too. DH was going to look at it today but it's too wet, so hopefully it will be a drier day tomorrow. Could do without the extra expense!

I've had a poster accepted for a really major conference in Paris - one month after bump is due to arrive :( Can't afford to take DH and bump with me, so considering whether it's possible to express lots of milk in advance and freeze it for 3 days / 2 nights that I'd be away for. I'm going to speak to the midwife on Thursday about it, but just wondered if anyone else on here would like to tell me that's an insane idea? I know it'd be difficult, but this is a really exciting conference, amazing for my career, chance to meet lots of potential collaborators in my field, reseach opportunities etc etc, aaargh.

Gilly, your crib mattress is about the same as mine then. Seems to be quite standard. Our crib is John Lewis, and the mattress is Mothercare, the sheets a mix of John Lewis and the ones on Amazon.

I love the stuff from John Lewis, but there are no stores here :( at all. It's like living in a foreign country at times I swear,

How long are you expecting the crib to last Kira? I'm worrying if my boys big, it'l be 2 months or something  We're out of here May, so I'm hoping it lasts that length of time.

I think the crib would last a bit longer than 2 months - probably half a year. The moses baskets are the ones that are lasting very short time, and they are 15cm shorter than the cribs, usually.

(You can see how much I want to work today - I am really sleepy and finding it hard to see the screen by now)

6 months will do me fine. Hopefully he'l fit in for that long.

Man I'm tired today too, could be doing with a nap right about now, (supposed to be doing ironing) but I don't want to miss my delivery :o

I am knackered all the time atm. I managed to slink upstairs to bed earlier to listen to my 32+ week hypnotherapy again (the idea of me slinking anywhere with this PgP is actually amusing- more like grunting and shuffling), and listened to the music for it afterwards as well, at which point i fell asleep for a lovely nap.
Only managed it cos DH is trying to work from home as much as poss this week, so he can keep an eye on our cats-with-thumbs, and field door knocking for parcels and phone answering. Such a relief to have him about, being so immobile! Dreading him going into work in town on Weds, as its a minimum hour each way, plus the meeting for up to 3 hours. Pants! I'm usually urging him to get out of the house, but the last week or two, i get really panicky if he needs to go out for more than an hour! Pathetic really!

Jen- how annoying with the emails! I had my first "so any news" call last night, from my old boss (and now chum). Lovely to hear from her, but technically i'm not due for 10 days!
