  • Reminds me actually - when OH was graduating one of his mates went up to collect his degreeand had his full name read out for the first time. His middle name was Lancelot and apparantly the entire hall was laughing. I loved that for a middle name and begged OH but got a big fat NO!

Also, we're naming our boy after OH's grandad for his first name and my dad for his middle name. OH's grandad's middle name was Cornelius, and again, I wanted that but again OH said no, so I'm not completely averse to unusual names - just as middle names.

I would have done anything for a normal name growing up. Not saying what it is but I blamed my parents a lot for giving me a stupid name (amongst other things). This is the only thing you have to worry about when choosing something weird - do you really want you child to be the butt of jokes so you can call them what you want?

I think we've decided on Theo Paul for a boy, although I do like Benjamin too. Paul is definitely the middle name, as it was OH's brother's name who died when OH was 3 (Paul was 18 I think, he got meningitis), so it'll either be Theo Paul or Benjamin Paul. When you say them *first name* *middle name*, I think I prefer Theo, but when you say Theo *surname* or Benjamin *surname* (or Ben *surname*) they all sound good :D

We're leaning towards Lily for a girl, as it's the only one we can vaguely agree on that we both like (OH originally said no, but I think he's coming round to it). I like classic names, am thinking maybe Lily Grace, but I don't want something that's going to be really popular, IYKWIM, so I want to find something that's classic, but also unusual! If such a name actually exists...

Am feeling full of cold now so am going to go home, hit the sofa in my dressing gown and spend the evening trawling baby name websites for some inspiration while OH cooks dinner... Even he should be able to manage cooking some pasta whilst reheating defrosted bolognese sauce I made last week...

There's no offense meant here to anyone's chosen names. DH and I would have a preference for more off-beat names. Lira is a musical instrument (and a female variant on a name from Star Wars: A new Hope). It's also a name from a series of books I really love. Odin- the ruler of Asgard, one of the bearers of the Earth, and possibly where Santa came from.....

Anymo- wish I could help, but there's always friendly words on here...
I love Odin aswel, and freyja but we have a dog called freyja, quite alot of the gods names i love and have a special meaning to me.

well OH liked Freja from Warcraft tree goddess... and her initials are FTW .. (for the win!) .. Geeks? Us?? You think? lol.

I drew the line at Willow Ophelia for Dot... initials of WOW did not appeal...

Ok.. so it did.. a little.. but I didnt want her to be giggled at... plus the first and surnames together sounded ridiculous.

My GS is Jacob Paul.. Paul being Dils friend who died very young :(

  • All this talk of names........when Max was born and dh told MIL what we had called him she said 'oh i dont like that' and he just replied 'why dont you think before you speak??!!' and she just replied 'well, it sounds like a dogs name'!! But it doesn't bother us what she thinks of it anyway lol
The girls name I really wanted was Lia.........didn't even think about the fact that we already have a Luke (ds 2 ) as well lol
Oh and Pigpen now I quite like the sound of Willow Ophelia as a girls name-although there will definatly be NO MORE babies, so will have to get a cat or something lol:rotfl:

Hi, hi, hi!!!! Well I went to see my consultant and he was just so lovely! Appreciated that's I'm stressed and struggling with SPD etc and he agreed to do my c-section at 40 weeks :j!! But the lady before me got my due date of the 28th for her c-section and it was apparently going to be a complicated one. So I was offered the 27th or 31st. I didn't really want Halloween so went for the 27th October so I'm all booked in for then :eek:!!!!!!!!!!!
