  • Telnet is a protocol. There is a telnet client built into windows yes accessible by typing telnet into run or command prompt.

You are then connecting to an external server which has the star wars thing on :)

No. Telnet is a protocol that allows communication between computers. When you type this, you are connecting to another computer somewhere in the world which is sending you the images.

Also works with Mac in Terminal. Just C&P the link into terminal, press enter and wait 10 seconds. The star wars text thing will start.

i asked my friend about this last night, he works on databases and all that type of thing. And he knew what Telnet was, and i asked him if the star wars things actually works, and he said yes!!!. So all people who work on pc's probably already knew this ages ago

I go into "Run", type "telnet towel.blinkenlights.nl" then a box appears saying "Connecting To towel.blinkenlights.nl" then it disapears and nothing else happens. Am I missing something?

Your firewall will block it - you have to tell it to allow the connection to happen.
