carers allowance and work!

iam currently recieving carers allowance to look after my husband who is recieving DLA and income support I have been thinking of doing some work for avon just to get out of the house and earn myself an extra little bit of money the thing is i would be classed as part time self employed and will probably only make £50 amonth if im really lucky! how would this affect my benefits ?

  • £50 per month won't affect your carers allowance. You can earn £100 per week before it affects your carers allowance. It may affect your council tax benefit and your housing benefit if you get them.

I made a mistake once, believeing people on the internet were my virtual friends. It won't be a mistake that I make again!
  • You can earn upto £20 a week on IS, but if you earn more in one week (for example, you earn your £50 in one week, but nothing for the other three weeks of the month), it may affect your IS for that week.

You should declare any work and earnings to all departments from which you receive benefits, including IS and CA. Although your eatimated earnings may not exceed the £100 a week limit, you still need to inform them of the work. Any changes in circumstances should be reported.
