My main account is the halifax reward account and ive found out i can just transfer money in and out to get my fiver.
i was just looking for the best current account to get a bit more % a year, another question is ive seen offers like santander offering £100 i think for switching to there ca, how would that affect my halifax reward account as thats my main account i dont want that to close i like my fiver a month

My main bank account is with First Direct, best bank ever!
I also have current accounts with the following:- HSBC (Used before First Direct, still used occasionally)
- Nationwide (Originally for free overseas use, closing soon)
- Co-Op Bank (Depositing cash at the post office)
- Halifax Reward (Free Fivers)
- Santander (£55 Quidco cashback + 5% interest for a year)

The only current accounts worth having are those which pay monthly incentives/have sign-up bonuses/pay decent AER's/have other perks attached to them.
Santander
First Direct
Lloyds
Nat west
Halifax
to name but a few ! If you have any sense you'll have as many as permissable per institution to maximise your gain/interest/freebies etc. It doesn't really matter how many current accounts you have providing they're free to operate, don't have overdrafts attached to them (or too many of them). One account shouldn't affect another. I currently have 14 all of which still give/have given me an incentive of sorts.
7 x Lloyds Vantage
1 x Lloyds Gold
2 X Santander Preferred
1 X First Direct
3 x Halifax Reward0 -
I have current accounts with Santander and with First Direct. I cannot rate First Direct high enough, would definitely recommend them to anyone. As for Santander, I am only with them for the free travel insurance that I get with the account.
I also have an Nationwide, originally opened for free cash withdrawals aboard.0 -

when you get a lloyd vantage account do you just pay the £1000 in each month and leave it there to get the interest? As don't seem as good as the santander 5% current account. also what do you get with the first direct account?
thanks0 -

£100 joining incentive (plus a £100 leaving incentive if you're not happy after 6 months)
£50 a pop for referring others to the account (max 3 I believe)
Access to an 8% regular saver (max £300 a month)0 -
Cor first direct might be great but after following the link to their website... - I think they need a new web designer - Big Black space where you have to scroll down to find any info. Anyway need a salary waaay more than my poultry one to qualify...ho hum...0

IF you want and FD account, and you don't meet the income criteria, just open savings account at the same time - they'll tell you which ones qualify - and they will waive the £10 monthly fee.0
