Hi,
Hoping somebody knows the answer to this please:
I'm off the Florida next weekend and wanted to get on to a couple of US websites (Guess & Abercrombie) to plan my holiday purchases but both sites divert me to the European sites which sell different items & obv don't display their prices in Dollars.
Does anyone know of a Firefox add-on or any other way of getting on to the sites please?
Thanks

it depends why it's diverting you...
Option 1 - it's auto detecting your location from your IP address and pointing you to your nearest location.
solution - it'll auto correct when you're abroad
Option 2 - you've logged on previously and chosen the UK & Europe as your default location
solution - either delete cookies relating to the site, or just use a different browser as they don't share cookies.0 -
Managed to get on using hidemyass - thank you
They divert you to the nearest location but I wanted to check out the US prices and plan my shopping list!!0 -

I wouldn't be too eager to put my credit card details into a foreign site via a proxy..... Remember, all the information goes via the 3rd party site (where it could easily be skimmed off).
Would 3rd party proxy sites work with https?0 -
^^ Definitely not a good idea to enter sensitive data using a proxied connection. Some proxies are set up just to harvest credit card details, so I hear...0

no need for proxies!!
just check the site for a location link!!
it'll be there somewhere!! it will usually autodetect your region but you can change it easily.
What site's you are visiting?Laters

If I go to the German site for the new Trackmania 2 game, it tells me that the game is not available in my region, unless I use a German proxy. I don't see why I should pay £19.99 for it when across the rest of the world it's priced at €19.99, but it doesn't look like there's an easy way to do that.
There should be laws to prevent products being charged at different rates just because of the location of the purchaser... Isn't that just like racism... or locationism, at least?!0
