Quick Barclaycard Question

hi guys,
bit of a daft mistake on my part, instead of using my usual natwest account to fund my ladbrokes account, i deposited £30 from my barclaycard.
i won a fair bit of money and this is where the problem lies.
because i deposited with my barclaycard, that's my main card and i cant change that until my account is empty of the money.

But i only owe £50 on my barclaycard, and have always thought/been told that i can't go into credit on it?

basically, my limit is £400, i currently owe £50 but i'm wanting £500+ refunded to the card. how will this work? will they actually accept the money going onto the card or refuse it?

hope that makes sense.
thanks for any help

Perhaps you'd be better asking Barclaycard directly rather than get replies based upon assumption.

The simple facts are accounts can go into credit whether the T&C's permit it or not, but that doesn't mean they will allow it in this case.
  • You may find that the T&Cs state that YOU may not put the account in credit. In this case it is a merchant who is doing the deed.

As a side-note, Barclaycard are likely to treat your payment to Ladbrokes as a cash advance and charge fees and interest on it. I'm assuming that your NatWest account is a current account and wouldn't be liable to these.

    Well...with problems like that...
  • They will likely let your account go into credit. It's happened to me before, but not with such a large amount, they just processed the refund and put me into credit.

You might find you have a hard time when you come to asking for a refund though. May be easier to just use the card for your day to day spending until the credit balance is gone.
