Typical!!!
I finally discover a love of curry (from an excellent place) and in my hurry to scoff it I leave a spoon with the tiniest bit of yellow curry sauce on it on my black laminate worktop........... result - a bright yellow stain that won't budge no matter what I use!
I'm guessing it's tumeric that has done the damage - anyone know how I can shift it (don't really want to replace the entire worktop cos of this!)???
Thanks in advance!

Try a couple of drops of neat bleach on the stain.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

or if the bleach doesn't work, what about trying some neat lemon juice?0

Is that a good idea on a laminate surface?? I don't want a big white patch where the yellow patch is now! (Worktop is black)
Was going to try meths - would that work??:A MSE's turbo-charged CurlyWurlyGirly:AThinks Naughty Things Too Much Clique Member No 3, 4 & 5

I use Mr Muscle kitchen cleaner spray - I cook using a lot of spices and have a whitish worktop so frequently do this too. It takes the stain out for me, without removing the top layer of the worktop. I wouldnt consider using neat bleach for my worktops.
May not be an OS purchase for some but it works well for me.
PS yes it is the turmeric, you're right. Brown stains are often cumin0 -
Meths won't do diddly squat unless you're planning to spark up a bonfire and Lemon Juice will just leave you ith a nice stain that smells of...erm....lemon:p Bleach is the one you should go for and it shouldn't take the maufactured colour of the worktop. I routinely coat my counters (beach colour) in neat bleach leave for an hour and rinse off and the are the smae as the day I had them installed. HTHLife's a beach! Turmeric is sensitive to light, you don't need to do anything it will fade.
Thats why most shop bought Piccalillis go a pale colour (e.g. Morrisons Piccallili) because they only contain Turmeric as a colour. If you keep it in a dark cupboard it won't fade. Just make sure your work surface gets lots of light and it should fade in 2 weeks. Bleach and other chemicals may actually "fix" the colour.

Turmeric does fade but in my experience it never fades out completely without being removed, it just lessens.0

I dont know the name, but i use one of those green 'scourer ' cloths - they arnt harsh like a brillo pad, but tougher than a micro fibre cloth. Either 'scrub' with some water, or maybe a bit of cream cleanser.0

I used to get that until I discovered Antibacterial Spray. Although I've found the cheaper ones don't shift it, the quality brands do0

Hi
My lovely, lovely flatmates had an Indian takeaway last night, and left the paper bag on the kitchen side. I moved it this morning, and there is a huuuuge yellow stain on the side (nice).
Anyone got any ideas what might remove it? I've scrubbed at it with anti-bac surface cleaner, but it's not had much effect.
Thanks in advanceEveryday I am asked to be a magician, in a world where magic does not exist.0
