Quote for replacement of soffets, gutters and fascias etc

Hi everyone!

First post on this site, so here goes.......

I've been told by the guys who are re-doing the pointing on my ridge tiles that I've got some problems with my roof. The upshot is that I need my soffets, gutters, downspouts, and fascias replacing. Also included in that is the replacement of the lead around the chimney stack and all the guff that goes with that. As well - they're planning on replacing the lead flashing on my kitchen bay roof and sorting the tiles out. About a weeks' work they reckon and they want £2500 for it. That includes VAT and all the the bits and bobs. All soffets, PVC fascias etc, new square gutters and downspouts, all done in woodgrain finish, to match my windows. Chimney stack all done and the lead etc for there and on my kitchen bay. Fair????? Got till Monday to say yea or nay.

As an aside, they're charging me £540 for doing the pointing, including VAT and any tiles that need replacing and new iron end pieces, whatever they're called!!! Is that ok???

Cheers all

I dont know if this is a good price or not but to be honest whenever someone says we have done this for you but we noticed that you need xyz doing as well then I tend to say no, I would then get a few quotes to see if they were about the right price and judge by the comments from the firms quoting to see if it needs doing. Tobe honest if they want 2.5k for the work I would say thanks but cant afford that right now, will get back to you, if they do turn out to be cheapest/best and the work needs doing they arnt going to turn you down if you call them to do it in a week or 2 and if they try and put the price up just say thanks but you quoted 2.5k a couple of weeks ago so will have to go elsewhere

    hope that helps a little

  • Not sure if this issue is sorted but I have used a company called Green Rainwater Store in the past, cheaper than most suppliers and service good.

For work of that description there'll undoubtedly be scaffolding. If thats included you need to allow £ 400 ish per side. Thats £ 1200 off the £ 2500 and then the quote you starts to look a tad cheap.

    Get some competing quotes.

Have you had any other quotes? 3 bed semi you said? so roughly 26-30 mtrs of fascia? does the price include tile ends?
