What programme can I use to do this job?

Hi there.
I run several sites. In every one, I have lost track of what is active and what is not; for example, when I replace items, I often leave graphics that are no longer needed on the server, simply because I cannot remember whether I still need them somewhere else.
I really need a program that will inventory a site and tell me what is no longer called so I can remove it. Maybe a graphical representation of files that are not linked to anything?
I suppose there are good naming practices that would help me overcome this problem, but I can't think of what they would be, any ideas?
Replies appreciated!:money:

What OS'es are you using (local and host) ?
Get a full file listing of your site and strip it to just images and then search
your html, php, databases etc for the image files.
On linux you'll have perl (activeperl for windows), find and grep which will do the job.
There are loads of perl scripts on the web for finding stale links on the web.NURSE: "Shouldn't it be sterilized, doctor?"

Dreamweaver allows you to synchronise your local site files with the remote files. So if you identify your unused local files you can remove them, check each site is still working and and then automatically delete all unused files off the server. Its a great program, but expensive....0
